please please please Help!!!
A devastating earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale struck Haiti on 12 January 2010, killing thousands and affecting up to three million people.
The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) - which in major crises brings together 13 leading UK aid agencies to raise money to help save lives and rebuild shattered communities - is appealing for funds.
The earthquake hit the capital Port-au-Prince and nearby areas. It is a densely populated area and the full extent of the devastation is not yet clear. But many have lost family, homes, livelihoods and essential services.
In appalling conditions and with limited resources the DEC members and their partners have already started to provide aid.
The sheer scale of this disaster means a huge response is needed. The most urgent needs are search and rescue, hospital care, emergency health, clean water, emergency shelter, logistics and telecommunications.
We feel the least we can do is host a charity event for this disaster, it will involve a noon start on Saturday 6th February 2010 & will run to noon on Sunday 7th February, the results will be judged on best overall weight to include any specimen of fish, First prize will be a full years membership to the lake, 2nd will be a year’s weekly membership & 3rd 3 x 48 hour tickets, we are also hoping for prize donations to run a raffle open to all.
